Sayvint raises 205 Miiiiillion Dollars

Saviynt, an identity management platform that enables companies to secure apps, data, and infrastructure in a single platform, has raised $205 million in debt from AB Private Credit Investors’ Tech Capital Solutions group. The loan brings Saviynt’s total raised to $270 million, following a $130 million debt raise earlier this year. I guess Uncle Tommy B isn’t the only one that can throw money at the identity market ( For those of you that are new around here, Uncle Tommy B = Thoma Bravo). Let’s see what Savyint does with that much money. With a down market, and a wealth of talent available, this may be Sayvint’s chance to take a real shot at the leaders in identity.

Nord goes Passwordless

NordPass has announced its plans to provide passwordless authentication solutions to its users in the upcoming months. With an increasing number of websites supporting passkey technology, customers will soon be able to keep their passkeys in NordPass and access them with biometrics only. Customers will also be offered a passwordless sign-in to NordPass. They will no longer need to repeatedly enter their Nord Account and master passwords to reach their personal space. Maybe are killing the password after all…

LastPass hack worse than we thought ? 🙃

GoTo has confirmed that the LastPass hack was a lot worse than we thought. In the company's latest disclosure, GoTo revealed that their remote work tool software platform had not one, but several encrypted backups compromised in the November LastPass breach. That means usernames, salted and hashed passwords, multifactor authentication (MFA) settings, product settings, and licensing information were exfiltrated from their systems. The company says that it has notified all impacted customers about what happened and will be resetting all passwords and MFA settings for all affected users as a precautionary measure.

The Last Word

Ok so a couple of quick stories to wrap up this newsletter: Grab your smores, cozy up by the fire, here we go:

Black History Month

This month is a pretty big deal for me. News flash…yes I’m Black. For the next 28 days ( we’ll debate why Black history month gets the shortest month of the year another time) I’m sure you’ll see references to will know Black Americans. Martin Luther King, Malcom X, Marcus Garvey, Harriett Tubman, etc. But I would challenge you to go beyond the surface. They are so many extraordinary Black Americans that have contributed to this country and are to this day. For example, let me introduce you to Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green.

She is one of the nation’s leading medical physicists and one of the first African American women to earn a Ph.D. in Physics. Dr. Green developed a revolutionary cancer treatment that uses lasers and nanotechnology to eliminate cancer in mice after only one 10-minute treatment in just 15 days with no observable side effects.

Dr. Green’s research has made her a leader in the medical physics industry. She continues to advocate for more equitable funding opportunities so that all researchers can access vital resources. She is also committed to ensuring her work is accessible and affordable for those who need it most. She believes everyone should be able to benefit from the life-saving treatments she is working on, regardless of their race or financial resources. Dr. Green’s groundbreaking work could one day save lives, and she hopes to make that future a reality by fighting for funding equity.

We are a melting pot of cultures, experiences, and people. Let’s embrace that and stop fighting it. Maybe I’ll lose a couple of subscribers this month ( there goes that 200 goal), but if reading content like this rubs you the wrong way, you probably aren’t the right audience for this newsletter.

Bridge Builder Virtual Mixer

Finally, I want to announce a free Virtual Mixer event that I’m putting together next week. For anyone who has been affected by the recent layoffs, I urge you to attend. The purpose of this mixer is to connect you with resources. I’m working diligently to get hiring managers, recruiters, and more. The plan is for this to be an ongoing thing to help people get new connections and find a way forward. You can sign up here.

Until next week folks

Be Good to each other, Be Kind to each other, Love each other
